Our Story
Nestled along the tranquil Grand Western Canal, Canal Tea Room is a charming retreat where time slows down and every cup tells a story. Whether you’re seeking a peaceful morning with a book, an afternoon tea with friends, or a quiet moment to yourself, our tea room offers the perfect setting.
A Historic & Scenic Location
The Grand Western Canal & Basin is more than just a picturesque backdrop—it's a designated Country Park with a rich 200-year history. Originally built for the lime trade, the canal now serves as a haven of peace and tranquillity. Whether you're strolling along the towpath, watching for kingfishers, or enjoying a boat ride, the canal offers a perfect escape into nature.
A variety of recreational activities can be enjoyed here, from walking, cycling, and fishing to paddleboarding and kayaking. The canal was declared a Nature Reserve in 2005, making it an ideal spot to see vibrant wildlife and flowers. Otters are often spotted at dawn and dusk, adding to the magic of this special place.
As the jewel in the crown of Tiverton, the canal basin is home to:
